Price data: All home repair cost estimates on FixItCosts are calculated using a three-step process: (1) National baseline from contractor industry surveys and published project benchmarks; (2) City adjustment using BLS Regional Price Parity indices; (3) Quarterly review and update cycle. Contractors cannot pay to influence pricing data.
Cost ranges: Budget estimates reflect entry-level materials and smaller crews. Standard estimates reflect mid-grade materials with a licensed contractor and permit where required. Premium estimates reflect high-end materials and established firms with full warranties.
